Main BuildingsThree buildings form the core of the facilities at Coburg West. Facing Reynard St is our original heritage building built in 1917. This building includes our reception, offices, art room, small hall and our Grade 3-6 classrooms. Our second building is a double storey open plan teaching space with our Foundation to Grade 2 classes, Languages program and additional assistance teaching spaces. Our heritage and open plan buildings are connected at the upper level with two covered walkways. The area between the buildings forms an attractive courtyard space. Our third building, funded through the Commonwealth Government’s "Building the Education Revolution" program was completed during 2012 and provides an indoor hall, performing arts space, canteen and Out of School Hours Care facility.School GroundsOur well maintained grounds ensure that our students have many opportunities for active and passive play. At the front of the school a shaded playground is provided for our junior students. The central courtyard is a quiet area for conversation and eating. A lovely aspect of the courtyard is Coburg West’s very own Friendship Tree. This is a place you can go to make a new friend, play a board game or just to relax.A further play space includes Tiger Turf areas with an athletics track and spaces for games of football or soccer. Our asphalt areas are perfect for games of bat tennis, netball or basketball. Our adventure playground, gazebo and sandpits all provide wonderful play opportunities for our students.Multi-Purpose Hall & CanteenOur state of the art multi-purpose hall is utilised daily for physical education classes, interschool sport and our Perceptual Motor Program (PMP). Every Monday the hall is the venue for our whole of school assembly where we gather to recognise and celebrate the achievements of our school community.Outside of school hours the facility is used by a number of sporting groups for training purposes. Our Out of School Hours Care building is linked to the Multi Purpose Hall and provides a wonderful facility for our programs before and after school each day. The canteen provides healthy and nutritious lunches two days a week.Learning SpacesAcross the school we have many varied teaching and learning spaces. All of our classroom teaching spaces are equipped with Interactive Whiteboards and classroom personal computers. Students have frequent access to learning technologies through school netbooks, larger laptop or desk computers and iPads. Our school has a very well resourced library and computer laboratory, visual arts room and performing arts mezzanine.
