Coburg West Primary School Code of Conduct
Our Welfare and Discipline approach across the school underpins many of the values we strive to achieve.
The students learn in an atmosphere of co-operation and mutual respect. Coburg West P.S. aims to develop courtesy, tolerance and a sense of fair play in each student. We believe students learn effectively when the environment is stimulating and supportive. Each student is encouraged to develop social skills, independence, self confidence and consideration for others. Students are encouraged to share the responsibility for their own learning, enabling them to reach their full potential. Learning experiences are structured to meet the student’s individual differences. Achievements are promoted, recognised and celebrated.
The approach to discipline is based on a rights and responsibilities model. A Student Code of Conduct is detailed in the School Charter. The Code of Conduct is also sent home in term 1. Parents return a signed note to the school indicating that they have discussed the code with their child. An Anti Bullying Program is implemented from P-6. Each child receives and works through a Student Bullying Booklet which is used when issues arise with student behaviour.
Logical consequences arise when individuals choose not to accept their responsibility.
The school environment provides attractive, encouraging, safe and secure areas in which students work and play.
Students are constantly supervised between the hours of 8:45 and 3:45pm.
