School Uniform
Student Dress Code
Coburg West P.S. has a compulsory uniform policy and all students are expected to be suitably attired at all times.
Guidelines
- All school uniform items, including broad brimmed and legionnaires’ hats are available from the uniform shop. Similar items can be purchased from some retail outlets: the school colours are compulsory
- Students are expected to wear the school uniform at all times, with the exception of camps or as directed by the school principal
- Students’ attire should be clean and tidy
- Graffiti on clothing is not permitted
- During terms I and 4 all students are required to follow the Sunsmart Accreditation practices that include the wearing of broad brimmed or legionnaires style hats. The width of the school broad brimmed hat has been accredited by the Anti Cancer Council. All hats must be kept clean and in good condition
- It is compulsory that hats are worn between the hours of 11:00am and 3:00pm while outside during terms 1 and 4
- It is recommended that shorts, or similar, be worn under dresses and skirts
- Footwear such as thongs, high heeled shoes and other shoes that put students at risk of injury should not be worn; in particular toes should be protected. It is recommended that black shoes or runners be worn to school. Runners should be worn to sport and P.E. classes
- Dangling earrings and jewellery that may be dangerous or cause possible injury are not to be worn
- Bomber jackets are available for students in grades 6 only. Grade 6 jackets are monogrammed

The uniform shop is generally well stocked with clothing sizes, particularly at the start of each term and at the end of fourth term in preparation for the new school year. There are also a limited range of pre-loved uniforms available at very reasonable costs. This shop is run by volunteers and is open on Monday mornings from 9:00am - 10:00am. Orders can also be left and picked up via the office.
