School Council
Coburg West Primary is governed by a school council. The council consists of Parents and DE&T employees, each group elected for a two year period. There are also coopted members of the community. Our school council is very effective and efficient in its various functions. There is a positive working relationship between all members. Well developed partnerships exist with the wider community and with DE&T.
Amongst the many roles and responsibilities that our school is involved with are:
- Development of the School Charter
- Approval and monitoring of the school budget
- Determining the educational policies and the direction of the school
- Preparing annual reports for the school community
- Developing the school code of conduct and the student dress code
- Approval of various policies mostly developed in one of the sub committees
- In case of a vacancy, play a role in the selection of the school principal
- Stimulating positive interaction in the school community.
Through shared vision, our school council is well prepared for its role in the schools endeavour to improve students’ learning.
